Frequently Asked Questions
For many people a flashlight is great, but the advantage of night vision is stealth. Night vision binoculars allow you to observe animals undetected, night vision goggles let you dominate the airsoft battlefield and our infrared flashlights will boost your range and night vision.
Our devices have LEDs that make infrared light, their light is almost completely invisible to humans, only appearing as a tiny red glow in the darkness - but the infrared light gives a clear picture to the sophisticated CMOS sensors that create the image on the goggles' screen.
We often say that our headmounted goggles are useful up to 100m (110 yards) but our night vision binoculars will work out to ranges of up to 275m (300 yards). These numbers are realistic and honest estimated ranges, but you can stretch to a further range using the zoom functions and boosting the range more with an infrared flashlight.
Our goggles work differently to those used in the military. Our devices have big advantages, they can usually record footage, they are more robust and they don't rely on ambient light to function - this means they can work in absolute darkness. However, using the infrared LED on our devices will give away your position to other users of night vision, so we strongly recommend not to use them for military purposes.
Some of our recent products have settings allowing you to change the screen coloring to green, inverse green and even white phosphor modes. Please be aware that these settings vary by model and firmware version, we often provide firmware updates to further optimise your night vision goggles experience.
